This years glittering Grammy Awards take place on the 26th of January 2014 and old rivals Tony Bennett and Michael Buble are going head to head in the ‘Traditional Pop Album‘ category.
Tony Bennett is a Grammy award veteran and has scooped 11 of the awards in this group during the ceremonies 22 year history. It was 2009′s ‘Michael Buble vs Madison Square Gardens‘ set which knocked Bennett’s ‘Swingin’ Christmas‘ into a cocked hat to grab the gong.
Currently taking many a critics nod for this years prize, Michael Buble’s ‘To Be Loved‘ is looking good, with odds of 2/5. Tony Bennett is holding in with the ‘Viva Duets‘ at 10/3 with Cee Lo Green, Gloria Estefan and Dionne Warwick also sniffing around the prize.
Everybody will be looking towards The Staples Center in Los Angeles when the big event takes place. MIchael Buble has just had his latest Christmas Special screen on NBC in the US. It’s the Canadian crooners third seasonal spectacular and as ever he was joined by a host of big name celebrity guests.
With Mariah Carey cropping up, along with the Cookie Monster from Sesame Street and R&B star Mary J Blige, it’s set to be another favourite amongst his fans. Singing classic festive fayre such as ‘Let It Snow’, ‘Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer’, ‘I’ll Be Home For Christmas’ and ‘The Christmas Song’.
Filmed in Vancouver the show is expected to better ratings for his previous Christmas shows which bagged over 1.6 million viewers on it’s first year and was the winner in it’s time slot the second time around.
As well as the big names he’s also giving over some time to the B.C. ‘s Coastal Sounds Children’s Choir. Michael has also been cropping up on the daily Today show on US TV talking about the show and what Christmas means to the singer and his family.
